Governor Salomón Jara Cruz reaffirmed his government's commitment to the development of women in various areas, recognizing their collective effort as drivers of their own empowerment and generators of well-being for their communities in Oaxaca. On the occasion of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8th, Jara Cruz, along with the Honorary President of the DIF Oaxaca System, Irma Bolaños Quijano, highlighted women's contributions in fields such as activism, education, science, art, health, and human rights advocacy.

"In our state, all forms of being and thinking are welcome, and the voice of women will always be necessary, which is a historic claim for their social rights," stated Jara Cruz. During the launch of the "Women and Resilience" event at Parque Primavera Cho Ndobá, services and information focused on empowerment and prevention of violence directed at women will be provided.

The governor pointed out that since the beginning of his administration, public policies aimed at the well-being of women, girls, adolescents, and elderly people in Oaxaca have been implemented, with the goal of growing free, safe, without discrimination and violence. As a result, there has been a 60.52% decrease in the incidence of femicides from January to October 2024 compared to the same period in 2022, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Safety System.

Among the initiatives promoted by the Government of the Oaxacan Spring is the delivery of credits called "Women of the Spring" to strengthen the autonomy of those who may be experiencing violence. Additionally, the Violet Brigades are carried out to raise awareness and disseminate information about violence against women, as well as the Women's Peace Builders Networks and Peace and Justice Days for women that bring services closer to municipalities with Gender Violence Alerts.

The Secretary of Women, Anahí Sarmiento Pérez, mentioned the importance of female participation in decision-making in a parity government in Oaxaca. For her part, the presiding judge of the Judiciary of the State of Oaxaca, Berenice Ramírez Jiménez, highlighted the public policies of the Higher Court of Justice of the State that prioritize women and girls to guarantee their access to justice and protection of their rights.

In the framework of the "Women and Resilience" event, more than 20 state agencies and three federal agencies will provide information and services to girls, adolescents, and Oaxacan women for the prevention and response to gender-based violence, as well as tools to promote their empowerment. Services include procedures such as birth certificates, housing support, and attention to cases of gender-based violence, among others.
